The third annual Women in Green Forumn is in full swing and i was honored once again to serve at emcee.
This year's Forum brought together female leaders from industry, govenment and the non profit world to speak on a variety of sustainable themes. Denise Coogan, manager of Safety Environmental Compliance, Subaru of Indiana Automotive, gave an entertaining and insightful talk on Subaru's environmental initiatives, including reducing waste by 50% from 2000 levels.
I had the pleasure of moderating a panel on Clean Diesel with Chief Technology Officer and VP of Product Development and Global Technology Division, Caterpillar Inc., Tana L. Utley, and Vickie Patton, General Counsel, Environmental Defense Fund, where we heard about the power of collaboration between "unlikely bedfellows" to result in diesel emissions with near zero emissions. This was followed by the EPA's Stephanie Owens and Cindy Lin spoke on protecting human health and the environment.
The Forum also offered tips and tools to empower women in green. From finding your career "sweet spot" to using crowd sourcing to grow your business, impact investing to mastering public speaking, tangible take-sways featured prominently in this year's line-up.
