The Future360 team was very excited to visit Facebook HQ in Menlo Park this week to interview sustainability guru, Bill Wiehl. It was interesting to hear about some of the operational measures taking place at Facebook including: greening of data centers; energy efficiency in offices; innovative transportation programs like bikes and buses for employees; and a solar installation atop the fitness center. But I guess the biggest game changer is the platform itself. The open source nature of which allows developers to create applications that can drive sustainability to the public at large. And with 800 million subscribers, the potential to better the planet is huge. I "like" that.
