Future360 traveled to San Jose, California to cover the Cleantech Open’s Global Forum. A non-profit organization, the Cleantech Open is the nation’s biggest accelerator and cleantech completion. The forum was a culmination of a year-long accelerator program where entrepreneurs from all over the country received mentoring and training.
The event kicked off with Investor Connect which brought together 60 VCs, investors, angels and strategics with 70 start-up companies for some high level matchmaking. Keynotes highlights included Jigar Shah and Admiral Gary Roughead. Presentations from the 21 finalists were scattered throughout the event, while a expo hall provided a venue for companies to demonstrate their technologies. The winner of Cleantech Open was HEVT, a developer of high performance, low cost electric motors that could profoundly impact the electric vehicle market.
